I was fortunate enough to serve as a presenting panelist at the 2012 MACAA Conference where I presented my work and conceptual approaches in relation to the panel’s topic, “How Detroit Built My Aesthetic. My presentation “Intimate Distance: Negotiating the Urban/Suburban Divide” focused on the ways my suburban Detroit upbringing creates tension when representing Detroit city proper in my work and the way it influences how I conceptually frame my work and approach my subject.
