Rosewood Arts Center is pleased to announce the opening of two solo artist exhibitions: Threshold Elegies, small scale drawings by Whitney Sage and The Pandemic Portraits, a series of ink portraits on newspaper by Nicholas Hill. Both exhibitions are on view in the Kettering Health Art Gallery at Rosewood Arts Center from March 9, 2026 through April 11, 2026. There will be a reception and gallery talks by the two artists on April 11 from 1-3 p.m.

Whitney Sage’s acrylic, ink and gouache drawings connect to issues of absence, loss and memory as related to disappearing homeland. This group of works, titled Threshold Elegies, is inspired by the artist’s own personal roots and focus on the sprawling midwestern neighborhoods of Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan. Through an incomplete picture provided by voided negative shapes, empty lots and incomplete artifacts on display, viewers are invited to consider the collective loss of identity, memory and belonging experienced in shrinking midwestern communities.

Originally from metro-Detroit, Whitney Lea Sage is a multidisciplinary artist and Associate Professor of Art at North Central College in Naperville, IL. Whitney has a MFA in Studio Art from Washington University in St. Louis and a BFA from Miami University.
