Artist Talk at Parkland College
March 6, 2020On Monday, March 2nd, I was invited to give an artist talk to the students, faculty and community members at Parkland College. 30-40 guests attended my talk which discussed the series that led to development of my Portraits of Home and Homesickness Series and the progression and futures of both series. I was grateful for the phenomenal questions posed by audience members about my work, Detroit’s history, the connections between Detroit’s open spaces and the urban farming movement, and the racial inequities of those who have suffered the most from Detroit’s cycle of decline and efforts to rebuild. I’d like to thank the Giertz Art Gallery administration and staff including Lisa Costello for the invitation to exhibit and for hosting and promoting my artist talk.
