Negative Spaces

November 18th – December 15th, 2023
Opening Reception: Friday, December 1st at 6pm on Zoom

A very important (and often overlooked) aspect of works of art are negative spaces: the space around and between objects in the composition. Artists can use negative space to make the focal point more prominent and/or give the eye a place to rest. Subtle shapes and elements can form negative spaces, adding to the narrative of the piece. For this exhibition we are looking for pieces that utilize negative spaces in some way. Negative Spaces, an online exhibition juried by portraitist Kelly McCullough, features water-based paintings by 53 artists selected from a pool of 104 entries.
